A Vacation for Everyone.
Because family vacations should actually feel like vacations
FINALLY...a retreat for the whole family.
I've been dreaming about creating a family retreat for a long time.
As a mom, a yoga teacher, and someone who has spent years creating retreats around the world, I've always wanted to create a retreat where parents don't have to choose between having an incredible family vacation and getting some actual time for themselves.
But I needed to find the right place.
The right property.
The right setting.
The right combination of adventure, beauty, comfort, and space.
And then I found it. Xka·n.
For one very special week during February school break, this normally adults-only property will be ours exclusively — and we're bringing the whole family.
And I couldn't be more excited. I'll be bringing my own 6-year-old daughter along, so this retreat isn't just something I'm creating for other families. We're coming, too.

A (re)treat for all of us.
Let's be honest: family vacations can be wonderful…and exhausting.
Someone is hungry. Someone is bored. Someone needs a snack. Someone needs sunscreen. Someone has decided that walking is no longer an acceptable form of transportation.
Meanwhile, you're dreaming about 20 uninterrupted minutes with a coffee.
So let's do family vacation differently.
While the kids are off making friends, creating, playing, exploring, and having their own adventures, the grown-ups get some breathing room.
Want to do yoga? Come practice.
Want to read by the pool? Do it.
Want to take a nap? PLEASE DO.
Want to join an excursion, linger over lunch, walk the beach, or simply stare at the ocean for a while?
Go for it.
And then we'll all come back together for meals, adventures, beach time, family yoga, laughter, and the kind of memories that make everyone say, “Remember when we went to Mexico?”

The Kids Club & Dedicated Childcare
This retreat isn't just “kid-friendly.”
It's designed with kids in mind.
Yes, childcare is included. Two dedicated babysitters will be with our retreat families from 8am–8pm, giving parents the freedom to practice yoga, read by the pool, enjoy a meal, take a nap, book a spa treatment, or simply have a little time to themselves.
Expect a rotating lineup of activities like:
🎨 Watercoloring
🏖️ Sandcastle competitions
🔎 Hide & seek
🐚 Beach & nature exploration
🎲 Games & creative projects
🏐 Outdoor play
🌴 Adventures around the property
🤸♀️ Family yoga & movement
There will be plenty of planned activities — but also plenty of space for kids to make their own fun, get a little sandy, and just be kids.
And because I'll have my own daughter there, I'll be right in the middle of it all.

Your Home for the Week
Xka·n
Xka·n was worth the wait.
Tucked along the Gulf of Mexico in Veracruz, Xka·n is a nature-filled beachfront retreat where the ocean, tropical landscape, local culture, and architecture all come together.
The property was designed with inspiration from the Totonaca culture of Veracruz, incorporating natural materials and elements of the surrounding landscape.
There's a pool, beach club, yoga space, restaurant, beautiful accommodations, and plenty of places to slow down and soak it all in.
And because this is normally an adults-only property, having the entire hotel to ourselves for this special family week makes the experience even more unique.
No worrying about whether your kids are disturbing someone else's peaceful vacation.
They're part of the vacation.

Your Retreat Leaders:
Mandy
I'm Mandy — founder of Mako Retreats, yoga teacher, lifelong adventurer, and mom to an awesome six-year-old, Viola.
I've been teaching yoga for more than 16 years and am an RYT 500 and E-RYT 200 yoga teacher. My own yoga journey has taken me around the world, including studying in India and training with internationally respected teachers such as renowned Iyengar teacher Usha Devi and Janet Stone. I've also led retreats around the world, always with the belief that the best experiences happen when we step outside our routines, explore somewhere new, and connect with good people along the way.
And now I get to share that love of adventure with Viola, who is already quite the little traveler. She loves being outside, exploring, swimming and being in the water, making new friends, and — perhaps most of all — doing ALL the crafts.
I've wanted to create a family retreat for a long time, and becoming a mom has made me even more excited to create an experience that families can truly enjoy together — where parents get to relax and reconnect, kids get to have their own adventures, and everyone gets to make memories together.
I'll be bringing Viola along for this adventure, and I can't wait to share it with you and your family.
Your Retreat Leaders:
Christa
Christa has taught yoga for 20 years, honoring its traditions, teachings, and transformative potential while staying curious about how the practice can meet each individual.
An E-RYT 500, she has studied and taught vinyasa, kundalini, restorative and gentle yoga, and myofascial release. Knowing that every body and mind is different, Christa offers variations, exploration, and practical ways to work with yourself rather than against yourself.
Her classes are welcoming, accessible, and grounded in meaningful work. She believes accessibility and transformation go hand in hand: moving beyond rigid rules and dogma allows us to engage more honestly and discover change that is both profound and lasting.
Christa’s teaching blends experience with curiosity, humor, compassion, and reverence. She loves helping students discover what feels good, what is useful, and what might surprise them, while making space to become more present, connected, and at home in themselves.
She has led retreats in Alaska, Mexico, and Costa Rica, and believes yoga is for anyone willing to get curious, breathe deeply, and meet themselves where they are.

Afternoon: More kids' programming while grown-ups have time to relax, read, nap, book a spa treatment or join an optional adventure
Late afternoon: Family activity, beach time or free time
Evening: Dinner together, sunset, movie night, bonfire or simply hanging out
The goal? Enough structure that nobody is wondering what to do, and enough free time that nobody feels like they're on a schedule.

A $500 deposit secures your family's reservation. The remaining balance can be arranged in multiple payments. Contact Mandy if you'd like to discuss payment options.
