La Rosa dei 4 venti

Join Mary Catherine Starr and Mandy Morell for a week-long yoga retreat at La Rosa, a renovated 17th century farmhouse located in the heart of the Itria Valley in Puglia, Italy (the Southeastern region of Italy or the “heel of the boot”).

Known for its whitewashed hill towns, farmlands, baroque architectural gems, delicious food, and miles of crystal blue coastline, this region is considered one of the most beautiful in all of Europe–but is special in that it has not yet become overrun with tourists.

During this retreat we will slow down and allow ourselves time to soak up the old-world energy of the property; we’ll enjoy daily yoga + meditation classes, delicious, healthy Italian cuisine, time relaxing poolside surrounded by the Italian countryside, and of course optional spa treatments and excursions into Italy to explore the Itria Valley and Italian coastline.

la masseria

We will be staying in a beautifully-restored 17th century masseria (farmhouse estate) in the heart of the Itria Valley. Located halfway between the Adriatic and Ionic Seas, this fourteen acre private property includes a beautiful Yoga Shala converted from an old stable, a small church dating back to the 18th century, a private forest with a meditation path, and a tranquil blue swimming pool.

The masseria has 10 guest rooms in total: five trulli-rooms (traditional Apulian dwellings with cone shaped roofs), three spacious rooms in the main building, and two comfortable rooms next to the Yoga Shala. Each guest room is unique, full of character, and furnished to create a relaxed, calming atmosphere.

We have 18 spots available for this idyllic retreat, 9 rooms with both single and double accommodation options.

Mandy did her yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, and has taught yoga in Nepal, Germany, Alaska, and now, on Cape Cod. She moved to the Cape in 2019 from Alaska–which she called home for the past 20 years while she traveled the world. Mandy brings her love of exploration, other cultures, and language to her yoga classes by teaching primarily in sanskrit and focusing on alignment and yogic philosophy.
